I have been engaged fully by Russell Brand and his youtube channel “The Trews”. His new book is encouraging a “REVOLUTION. My husband also is involved in creating a “LEARNING REVOLUTION” in his school. So I was not surprised really when I found the exhibition “Disobedient Objects” in the V+A Museum in London.
It exhibited items loaned from activist groups from all over the world, bringing together for the first time many objects rarely before seen in a museum. It was inspiring to see all the methods of communicating the message. What I loved was the creative aspects of this memorabilia:
Images
Use of images and sign to signify the fight or struggle. Such as the pink triangle for gay rights or the red square for supporting activism
Involvement/Collective
As they tend to be grass root revolutions they had all types of people creating the material from grandmothers knitting quilts to students making signs. I love the sense of community creativity.
Colour
There was a great sense of colour, vibrancy and energy off the objects that were exhibited. I really loved the vivid nature of the objects.
It was inspiring to see what people do when they come together in a common cause!
