I went off to the Irish Museum of Modern Art today in Kilmainham. I saw a brochure for it during the week and thought that it could provide some inspiration for my creativity.
What I really enjoyed was the introduction of a new concept of art to my consciousness which is called “Kinetic” style of art. In the exhibition called “Conversations” there was some art exhibited that engaged you with it in a sensory way. One piece had little tear drop shapes that were specifically drawn in a way that made them move in your minds eye despite the image being static.
Another artist Jesus Rafael Soto produced “Curvas Inmaterilaes, 1966.” which was this piece of art that moved and engaged with the environment. It was really unusual.
In another exhibition of the works of Helio Oiticica, there was a room filled with stones from a beach that acted like a carpet. A lot of his exhibition too was very sensory and encouraged engagement with the artist and artwork.
It got me thinking about Training and Mentoring in my own line of work and how powerful physical engagement in an idea or concept can be. There is an opportunity to think that through for my training session. For example…..creating paper glasses as a prop for looking at your business through the lens of your customer.
mmmmmmmm…..inspiring me to think differently about how we can touch, feel and sense the messages that we are trying to communicate!
