Doodle-le-do!

Natalia Talkowska, founder at Natalka Design uses sketching as a tool to tell peoples stories. Wanting to spread this visual way of capturing information and presenting information she set up Doodleledo a group meet up of individuals who want to explore their creativity through doodling! Myself and Hugh went along to the third ever group meeting in the Twisted Pepper in Dublin last night.

We were a bit nervous about what to expect and were not really sure what was in store for us. We arrived upstairs in The Loft and were greeted by Eoin and his friends. There were tables set out with paper, coloring pens and light bites to eat. When we arrived there were already a few people gathered so we simply joined the table. Everyone was very friendly and Eoin explained that we just simply pick up a pen, start drawing and enjoy the conversation.

I was a bit frustrated at the start as I thought what I was drawing was pretty crappy. Karolina who was sitting beside me was a great sketcher and I was getting annoyed at my own paltry attempts. After a short while though I started to relax and just enjoy the company and mindless drawing.

Two hours later both myself and Hugh had met some lovely people and had opened our creative reservoir through doodling. It was a great thing to do and I really enjoyed it in the end! I will finish with a quote….

One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and, if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words.”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Wilhelm Meister’s Apprenticeship
